There are many reputable alpaca transporters out there, but it never hurts to check them out even if you’ve used them before.

Check out references provided by the transporter. Check the transporter’s reputation through other alpaca breeders. Check the transporter’s biosecurity measures. Request a fee schedule. Find out what type of vehicles/trailers the transporter uses. Find out the transporter’s protacol for long distance trips including overnight stays (feed, water, etc). Know what alpacas will be travelling with yours. Keep tracking records on all alpacas transported. Know what people will be travelling with your alpacas. Know the transporter’s route, any planned stops, and estimated time of arrival at your chosen destination.
